AB race from Welland Valley's Phil Rayner

Ian fagan and Michael Clark went away on the first lap in towards Nantwich.Behind there were many attempts to break clear until eventually on the third lap strong man Mike Jones went clear with
one other rider.Again. attempts were thick and fast behind to get up to these two and eventually six riders crossed the gap .
These six included Steve Stoneman , Pete Georgi, Neil Higgins and Phil Wilkins. After a long chase the front ten riders came together.
Mike Jones attacked with two laps to go taking Pete Georgi and Steve Stoneman with him.
These three riders never got more than 40 second lead but somehow managed to hold off the chasers. Mike Jones was strongest at the finish for a well deserved victory.Phil Wilkins led home the chasers for 4th place and most importantly 1st B cat rider.

CD report from Nick Giles
A big field started the CD race on a ideal day for racing, plenty of sun and a warm breeze from the south west. From the gun Roger Gardiner was using his enormous gear (55 I believe?) to string the peleton out and prevent any early attacks. There were plenty of flurries off the front with Team Whitfield riders Graham Payne and Phil Rose especially trying to motivate an early move. Through the finish on the 1st lap there was a split off the front, a small group had forced a 15 sec gap, with Rob Whitfield, Keith Jones and the evergreen Malc Fraser going across, but the bunch were not having any of it and by the main road it was back together. This was the time to go and Marcus Walker blasted away down the outside of the group with Nick Giles and Ray Pugh for company, and within a mile or so they had a good gap. Ray was in difficulty holding pace but got a great workout leading up to the Abberleys next week! With a lap and half to go a group of chasers were closing the break down, these included, Tony Parkinson, Rob Whitfield, Keith Jones, Dave Cuming to name a few (sorry if I missed your name if you were in this group). Nick, Marcus and Ray were holding the gap at 30 secs for mile after mile, until the very last descent before the climb up to the km to go banner. Once the 2 groups joined there was the inevitable messing about, but once round the final corner Jonesy jumped hard and took the WIN...well done mate and to all finishers on a tough circuit.
Apologies to Rob Whitfield for putting him on the grass when my gears jumped in the final sprint causing me to swerve into him...I'm sure he would have placed higher!

EFG race report from Don Parry, Team Corley
A break of four riders, initiated by Don Parry went from the gun and stayed away for the whole 50 mile race. Parry was immediately joined by Alan Kemp, Brian Camfield,Stone Whs recently returned to the sport after over 40 years away from racing,Solihull's Dave Rutherford was the only rider to get across to them. The break worked consistently well together to stay away on a demanding rolling course. Despite a lone attempt by Les West and at some stages a well organised chasing bunch they had over three minutes lead by the finish. They all commented a the end it was one of the best breaks the had been in.

Alan Kemp won the finishing sprint from Don Parry, Brian Camfield and Dave Rutherford.
